The São Jacinto Dunes Natural Reserve is situated in the Peninsula that goes from Ovar to São Jacinto, on the western side there is the Atlantic ocean, and on the Easter the beautiful Ria de Aveiro.
Created in 1979, this protected area with about 700 hectares is very important for the protection of Sea birds.
In this Reserve it is possible to enjoy a beautiful coastal landscape, with scenic forests and sand dunes stretching down to the sea.
This Natural Reserve spreads over a large area between the sea and a lagoon with areas of woodland planted over a century ago to protect inland areas from wind swept sand.
The Reserve organizes guided tours, if scheduled in advance, and the visitor also has an Interpretation Centre and a Welcoming Centre in order to better take advantage and knowledge of this beautiful natural heritage.
