Barril - Pedras d´El Rei Beach

The Barril Beach is reachable by a tourist train or by walking.
Crossing the sea Alluvium, and during the low tide, one will be able to observe several types of crabs and aquatic birds.
Additionally, while crossing the dunes one might also be able to find a great variety of vegetation.

In the dune area, in front of the restaurants, one can observe the Cemetery of the Anchors (Cemitério das Âncoras). Some decades ago it was a small village that housed the tuna fishermen, their families and their fishing crafts. Nowadays it is restored and functions as a beach activities support.
The Barril Beach has been, since 1987, awarded with the Blue Flag and distinguishes itself by the quality of its clean and healthy environment.
