In the past Quarteira was a small fishermen village but has over the years transformed itself in a cosmopolitan tourist centre.
The Beach, situated in the village, is cut by several jetties and is usually crowded in summer time, specially by Portuguese tourists.
In summer time a centre is available (Centro Azul, or “Blue Centre”) that provides tourist informations and several beach activities and animation.
