Tôr Bridge

The Tôr Bridge was built in the ancient secondary Roman road that linked Milreu, in Estoi to Salir (Loulé). The date of its construction has originated distinct opinions and does not unite consensus: some say it was built during the period of Roman occupation, others try to prove that the bridge was built during the period of Islamic occupation.
The bridge is located in a picturesque environment, within an wealthy landscape. It is constituted by five round arches, the last one reconstructed in the medieval period, increasing to the monument a Portuguese coat of arms. The bridge has in the center 3.47 meters of width, with an asphalted floor, under which another floor of paving stones exists, over characteristic Roman support walls, eventhough with a bigger dimension than the usual, probably due to the fact that this zone is frequently subjected to floods.
