Located west to the lovely Funchal town, on the gorgeous Madeira Island, the Girão Cape is an almost vertical promontory that rises at 580 meters above the ocean.
This is the highest promontory in Europe and the second highest in the world. From this viewpoint the view is fabulous, over the wide Atlantic Ocean and all the Madeira Island surroundings.

A panoramic elevator is also available, which allows to access the Fajã dos Pescadores: a beautiful beach, as well as several agricultural fields, that for many years were only accessible by boat.

Towering over the wonderful Girão Cape is the peak of Pico do Galo, where one can find the lovely Nossa Senhora de Fátima Chapel.
