Alcoutim is located in the Algarve inland, far from the coast and also far from the Tourist landscapes that are famous in the Algarve, proving that the Algarve has much more to offer than only Sea, Sand and Sun.
The village is built over the Guadiana River with bright small houses up and down the hill, and a very peaceful and quiet environment.
Alcoutim is a village filled with history, as its Castle still witness, stage of battles and protection of the territory, mainly because of its proximity with the Spanish border and with the North of Africa (as all the Algarve). This proximity has also influenced the lifestyle of the nearby populations that have merged both cultural characteristics of Portugal and Spain.
