Considered to be the most important structure in the Azores Archipelago Central Group of ilsndas, the Horta Airport is located at about 9,5km from the centre of Horta, on the Faial Island.

Inaugurated in 1971, the Airport initiated its connections to Lisboa, in the mainland, in 1985. In 2001 it was restored and renewed, receiving the category of “international Airport”.

The Horta Airport nowadays links Faial Island to the Airports of Corvo, Flores, Lajes, Ponta Delgada and Lisboa, therefore being the privileged way of transportation to this amazing Island, allowing a great mobility in all the dislocations.
